27 Dec 2007 - How Angelina uses a cosmetic sturgeon on those unsightly veins
As one of Hollywood's highest-paid actresses, it was only to be expected that Angelina Jolie would develop a taste for caviar.

But instead of eating it, she rubs it into her skin.

After losing a drastic amount of weight, the 32-year-old star has recently displayed bulging veins on her arms, hands and forehead while her normally-glowing appearance lost its lustre.

To combat this, she has become a fan of a £200-a-time treatment extracted from the eggs of Baerii sturgeon, reared on farms in the South of France.

In sessions lasting up to three hours, Brad Pitt's other half is swaddled like a mummy to sweat out toxins before being smothered all over in the body cream. It promises to 'drench the skin with moisture and nourishment' and combat 'loss of firmness and slackened skin'.

Because of the high oil and protein content of caviar, it is thought to be especially moisturising. The fish smell is removed as extracts of caviar are used instead of whole roe.

She has also been indulging in 90-minute facials using La Prairie's caviar-based creams.

Miss Jolie became a fan of the treatments earlier this year in Venice, after discovering them at the Hotel Cipriani's Casanova spa centre. Sir Mick Jagger, Gwyneth Paltrow, Stella McCartney and Kate Moss are also devotees of caviar facials, while Catherine Zeta Jones has been smearing the stuff on her hair to add instant gloss.

The caviar-based creams are produced by extracting vitelline - or yolk sac - from the sturgeon eggs.

The substance contains phospholipids, which are fats key to hydrating and softening the skin, as well as proteins said to contribute to the regeneration of skin cells.

TV beauty expert Nick Ede, who gives tips on shows ranging from GMTV to Project Catwalk, said: "Caviar is packed with proteins and salts, and has lots of vitamins. The nutrients in it make it one of the best things to put on your skin."

But Jenny Harding, a skincare specialist from the London-based Dynasty clinic, said: "It is true there are omega 3 fatty acids in caviar, but you might as well put cod liver oil on your face.

"The best thing you can do with caviar is put it on a plate and eat it. By the time it reaches a cream, it has been doctored so much you are getting little benefit.

"You would do just as well swallowing a cod liver supplement every day to make your skin glow."

24 Dec 2007 - Angelina loves filming sex scenes
The 'Beowulf' star - who has four children with boyfriend Brad Pitt - likes nothing more than rolling around naked with other men in front of the cameras.

Angelina said, "A physical thing is, for some people, like me, very easy. You find something about that person that you love and you enjoy, that you truly embrace and have fun with, and you just enjoy each other.

"You're two adults and you enjoy each other and you know that it doesn't mean anything - whatever it was is left there."

Earlier this year, Angelina shared a sex scene with Brad's good friend Matt Damon when she played his wife in 'The Good Shepherd'.

Matt said at the time, "Doing a love scene with the girlfriend of a good friend is weird. We all know each other."

Angelina insisted, "In reality both the people we're involved with couldn't have cared less about that because they know us. It's one of those things where it's like the least threatening person. You know, 'Good luck to you guys, I hope it's not too awkward.'

"The difference between kissing Matt and kissing Brad is simple. One's a friend and the other is my lover."

22 Dec 2007 - Angelina and Brad lend their voices to help kids still homeless after Gulf hurricanes
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt used their star power Saturday to help The Children's Health Fund focus attention on the more than 46,000 children still displaced 2 1/2 years after hurricanes Katrina and Rita destroyed their homes.

Jolie said her work as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees prompted her to get involved with the CHF's effort.

"This is the largest displacement of children in my own country so I want to learn as much as possible," she said at a news conference.

A report issued earlier this month by the CHF found that 46,000 to 64,000 children affected by the hurricanes were still at risk for a host of medical, mental health and educational problems complicated by a lack of support services.

"Many families are distressed about how long and difficult the recovery has been," said Dr. Irwin Redlener, president of the CHF and director of the National Center for Disaster Preparedness at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, which conducted the study.

"We're concerned that this issue has fallen off the radar screen and that, nationally, people are losing interest, saying this is a 'local' issue. We dispute that. This is a national problem and one that requires an intense and focused effort to fix," Redlener said.

Redlener said it was "unacceptable" that more than two years families were still living in federally issued travel trailers or other temporary locations. "This is an American challenge that should have been met a long time ago but hasn't."

Jolie said that in her travels she has seen many children who feel defeated.

The difference here, she said, is that children "are feisty, fun and full of pride. They know where they're going and what they're going to do. It's that kind of spirit that will help everyone get through this."

Pitt and Jolie have made New Orleans their home since the hurricanes and have been working to help the area recover.

"We're focused on community building," Pitt said. "It's not just about homes. It's not just about building. It's about the lack of focus on education and health care too."

Pitt has pledged more than $5 million to Make it Right, a project to rebuild 150 homes in the Katrina-devastated Lower 9th Ward, one of the city's most impoverished neighborhoods.

Redlener said his group and the Regional Consortium for Children in the Gulf, a coalition of several groups, have devised a "prescription for what must happen now," with proposals including:

Urging the Federal Emergency Management Agency to develop a process that ensures that every relocated family goes into appropriate housing in safe neighborhoods with access to schools, community based sources of social support and health care.

Urging federal and local officials to ensure access to onsite health care and mental health services for families still living in temporary housing.

Creating relocation options for families who want to leave the Gulf Coast and move to other communities.

21 Dec 2007 - Jolie Angry Over Weight Focus
Angelina Jolie has said she lost weight last year due to problems in her personal life, adding that the media's coverage of her problems worried her.

Speaking to Grazia magazine, the Tomb Raider star said she had to deal with difficult emotional issues this year such as the death of her mother. She criticised the media for reporting on how weight loss would affect how she looked rather than empathising with the star.

Jolie told the magazine: "The thing that's disturbing is that instead of people saying, 'This looks like a person that's actually dealing with something, probably from emotions,' they say: 'Does she fit into skinny jeans and look thin?'"

The actress, who is raising four children with partner Brad Pitt, added that people needed to understand that celebrities' problems with weight were not all related to image concerns but also due to difficulties in their personal lives.

Jolie added that Pitt was a great support during the grieving period and had spent many hours talking with her about her mother's passing.

The 32-year-old was recently nominated for a Screen Actors Guild award for her role as the widow of slain journalist Daniel Pearl in the film A Mighty Heart.
